Dropship, Zero to One
A net-new fulfillment capability built from the ground up across a complex retail operation.
The Challenge
Backcountry had no dropship program — no infrastructure, no vendor framework, no internal playbook. As the business looked to expand its catalog and reduce inventory risk, dropship represented a strategic priority with real financial targets attached. The challenge wasn't just technical; it required building organizational alignment across buying, finance, and operations before a single order could route.
My Approach
I led the end-to-end build — defining the vendor onboarding framework, driving ERP and OMS integration to support dropship order routing, and navigating internal stakeholder alignment across teams with competing priorities. A significant part of the work was designing exception and returns handling from scratch, since there was no existing process to adapt. I operated as the connective tissue between technology, operations, and the business throughout.
